The Flintstones, the Modern Stoneage Family, had sold many products through their lenghty TV career. In 1967, Anheuser Busch contracted Hana Barbara to produce these promotional campaign Flintstone cartoons for Busch beer. In this rare promotional cartoon, Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble pound a few drinks and even bartend for awhile.

Most memorable moment: The women’s hand that comes out of space as Mr. Slate drinks his beer to tell him to forgive Fred and Barney and give them another chance.

Today cartoon characters serve up moral lessons to children – don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t do drugs, don’t litter, and brush your teeth.

Back in the good ol’ days of commercial breaks, cartoons sold us cigarettes and booze. In this oldie, senile Mr. Magoo drinks ice-cold refreshing Stag. He seems a little confused, or a little too drunk, but at least he’s generous with it. Pass a Stag to me, Mr. Magoo.
