Unlike it’s popular sugary cousins, Cheerios hasn’t evolved much with the times, mainly because it hasn’t had to. Cheerios have always been Cheerios. They’ve never tried too hard to be the coolest kid on the block. Cheerios is all about communicating the nutritional and health benefits, and in this case, a cross-promotion with V8 juice.
This must’ve been before they started putting the actual toys in boxes. Maybe not, but there’s a special offer on this commercial to send off to get your free Rocket Toy, which actually looks like a cool cereal toy. (You know, one that grabs more than 2 minutes of your child’s attention span.)
It’s too bad kids had to wait in the mail for them though, it’s all about instant gratification, baby.
