KFC – The Colonel Explains His Chicken

1960s, Restaurants 3 494

Colonel Sanders was proud of his special recipe fried chicken.  So proud he wanted to promote it himself on television.  In this spot, the Colonel sits down with some family…maybe it’s his, maybe it’s someones, but ah well who cares, there are kids who can sit on his lap.    Anyway, the late Colonel Sanders explains how Famous Recipe fried chicken is made to perfection –  along with the signature bucket o’ chicken for the whole family.

The voice at the end (the short 5 second jingle) refers to himself as the colonel, but this voice is clearly not the colonel.  I suppose the colonel was then what he is now – an epithet to delicious fried chicken.

I now live in Ky,and I went to the original KFC house and restaurant-Its funny because I knocked on Sanders door to let me in because I thought it was a museum! It turns out the lady that lives in his house, and runs most of operations and a big huge part of his will is an actress that was on Star Trek! She is the red head in this very commercial.Ya’ll reconize her!?This is true, and she was super nice! The Colonel some how looked at her like a daughter.

That’s really interesting…. but logical. Didn’t you know Spock was a huge fan of the Colonel?
