Enter Baby Laugh a Lot, a short-nosed face with a creepy chiseled smile who does exactly what they say she does. She sits high on a rocking pedestal, arms swinging like pendulums and cackling at children, turning them into wild-eyed, spastic giggling maniacs that stumbled off the set of a 60′s remake of Reefer Madness.

What exactly is causing all of this laughter? They say laughter is contagious, but usually something funny happens. Even the announcer can’t keep his chuckles at bay. I’m guessing because it’s yet another toy doesn’t come with batteries. Joke is on you, mom and dad.

Capt N’ Crunch is kidnapped by a pirate who demands to know how Capt N Crunch stays crunchy. The Captain isn’t sure how his cereal stays crunchy so he calls Quaker Oats to find out. Perhaps we should be confused, concerned, or smirking from irony that the Captain doesn’t know what goes into his own cereal.

We end with the pirate bawling unnaturally, rolling around on the deck when he doesn’t get his answer. Emotional, these pirates arrr….

The Flintstones, the Modern Stoneage Family, had sold many products through their lenghty TV career. In 1967, Anheuser Busch contracted Hana Barbara to produce these promotional campaign Flintstone cartoons for Busch beer. In this rare promotional cartoon, Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble pound a few drinks and even bartend for awhile.

Most memorable moment: The women’s hand that comes out of space as Mr. Slate drinks his beer to tell him to forgive Fred and Barney and give them another chance.

Cereal – Cheerios and V8 for Healthy Breakfast

Unlike it’s popular sugary cousins, Cheerios hasn’t evolved much with the times, mainly because it hasn’t had to. Cheerios have always been Cheerios. They’ve never tried too hard to be the coolest kid on the block. Cheerios is all about communicating the nutritional and health benefits, and in this case, a cross-promotion with V8 juice.

This must’ve been before they started putting the actual toys in boxes. Maybe not, but there’s a special offer on this commercial to send off to get your free Rocket Toy, which actually looks like a cool cereal toy. (You know, one that grabs more than 2 minutes of your child’s attention span.)

It’s too bad kids had to wait in the mail for them though, it’s all about instant gratification, baby.

McDonalds – Ronald Rides to the Store

Although I don’t have the facts, I think it’s safe to say that McDonald’s has spent more money on advertising and marketing towards children more than any other restaurant has ever done in history. In fact, McDonald’s advertising has caused mixed reactions from both the FCC in the United States as well as the public about the limits to children’s advertising.

In this short commercial, Ronald and some strange character are walking around in some twisted fairy-tale land and Ronald has a problem – he needs to get to the boys and girls in McDonalds, and in a hurry! This strange character in McDonaldland (Does anyone know who this is?) gives Ronald his imaginary car and Ronald rides all the way to the closest McDonalds to cheer with the kids.
