Woodsy the Owl – Give a Hoot, Don’t Pollute Classic Jingle

1960s 0 1754

Woodsy Owl, friend of Smokey Bear, has been telling generation of generation to stop friggin’ polluting and appreciate some nature for at least the past forty years with the phrase “Give a Hoot – Don’t Pollute”.

Originally a cartoon, Woodsy became a giant skipping mascot in the 1980’s with a couple dubiously different voices ranging I would like to describe as either ‘nasally and cute’ to ‘mopey fat cheeks’. Woody helps the United States Forest Service to motivate kids to plant trees, be a non-vandalizing conformist, repair trees by TP’ing them (3:00), literally fight over who is going to pick up the most trash, and riding your bike through parking lots in packs.
